Mental Health and College Admissions
April 2-4, 2016 -- Worcester, Massachusetts
Join us this spring for a symposium on the growing number of students entering college who report grappling with mental health challenges during their youth and adolescence. Nationally recognized presenters will lead us as we explore common questions about how to address mental health in the application; how admissions offices evaluate the circumstances surrounding mental illness; how to evaluate a college's ability to accommodate mental health needs; and how these needs evolve over the course of the college years. The Clark Counselor Symposium is a professional development workshop that each year examines a current issue in college admissions from the perspective of counselors at both the secondary and higher education levels. The program also includes an opportunity for you to learn more about Clark University and its pioneering approach to Liberal Education and Effective Practice (LEEP): explore campus through a personalized tour with a student ambassador, find out more about current undergraduate research and experiential learning, and enjoy lunch with students and faculty in the Higgins Café. Registration is now open. If you have questions about this year's symposium, please contact Jake Mattleman, Associate Director of Admissions, at jamattleman@clarku.edu. KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Aaron Krasnow, Ph.D '03Dr. Aaron Krasnow earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Clark and now serves as the Associate Vice President and Director of Arizona State University's Health and Counseling Services.
